PTSD & Addiction

When we cannot solve a problem, we seek an escape from the problem itself. The same applies to people with PTSD. The amount of stress that PTSD brings makes a person helpless. As a result, they tend to look for things that can help them get rid of stress. Substance abuse is the most common way. People with PTSD often take the help of alcohol, weed, or any drug to get rid of the anxiety for the time being. However, it doesn’t help them overcome the disease, instead makes them more vulnerable. Some antidepressant drugs are also highly addictive substances. You may think that it will help you get rid of depression or anxiety. However, it acts otherwise.
